Pharmacy : Expectations vs. Reality

Why Pharmacy is the underrated Course in India?

India is a diverse country and many students have a dream to get Govt. Jobs because government jobs have stability and give good financials to the person. If students are studying to get govt. jobs then pharmacy can sometimes disappoint them.

Pharmacy graduates can go for govt. jobs but if we compare it with other sectors then there are less govt. jobs available in the pharmacy sector.

Our elders only understand that pharmacist can only work in retail shops or can open the wholesale business of medicines.

In today's world, the Pharmacy sector has immense opportunities for students. We just have to educate ourselves other than the pharmacy syllabus.

In this time of Covid, many sectors are deteriorating but we can see how the pharmacy sector is improving. Why we have chosen Pharmacy because it is improving? No, because we know that medicines will become closer to humans in future.

Mankind is ruining their own life day by day. In this digital era, we are not aware of what we are doing and what we have to do.

If we will see, In the short term this is good but in long term, it will become a curse for all of us. As a pharmacist, we are educated to counsel our patients and discuss with them how they are feeling about their body and health. This sector will never fall?

Many of us expecting that Pharmacy is not so great course to enrol in after the 12th but we can see that in the future Pharmacy will be the only new MBBS.

The reality is, Pharmacy has a great career ahead in future.

Paul Tunnah, founder and CEO of Phamaphorum -

“The future of pharma is about embracing technology and a much broader definition of medicines’, which includes a greater focus on prevention (driven by the growth of personal diagnostics via smart devices), digital health and digital medicines/therapeutics (for example, use of cognitive behavioural therapy chatbots for managing depression or apps that help diabetes patients monitor and manage their blood sugar levels). Smart pharma companies are making moves into these spaces to build partnerships with external players and internal capabilities.”
